CFMU NEWS: NOVEMBER 2009
Welcome to the first newsletter in quite some time. We wanted to change how we did it, to encourage you to get on the PHP, which in turn encourages us to update the thing!
CHRISTMAS SHINDIG!
We want to get everyone together – and we haven’t done it for a while. Details will follow.

BANNERS
95% of you got us banners – thanks – it looks great on the website! The rest of you should try and get ‘em in soon (most of you are new programs anyhow). And while we’re on the topic of websites…
PLAYLIST FEATURE
This is something we’re working on. Another reason to log your music! Not only will the name of the song be posted as it is being played, but the playlist for the entire show will be available for download.
PROGRAM GUIDE
Simply put, there isn’t one, for various reasons including time, money, effectiveness, etc. We do, however, have some great flyers printed with our schedule on them, which will be distributed instead.
SUPERCRAWL and the C+C Festival
To those of you who helped out with Supercrawl – thank you! This was a huge event. They had twice as many people out to Supercrawl as to the regular art crawl, and that was in the rain! The C+C elements of the event – giving out CDs, the shows at This Ain’t Hollywood and the Cathedral – were all huge successes. Best of all was the number of people listening to Gunner (INDI FM) and I on the air from one until 10 pm that night. We interviewed thirty-some-odd people, from politicians to the guy who wrote “Some Kind of Wonderful.” It was great for the Supercrawl and great for CFMU. Get involved next time!
FROST WEEK TENT
We want to promote ourselves a bit more on campus, so we’re planning on doing another tent broadcast during McMaster’s “Frost Week” festivities. Details will follow.
ADVERTISING
Please keep an eye on your logs! There are a lot of ads being logged these days, and we need each and every one of you to be diligent about it.
ALBUM REVIEWS BY YOU
Remember, we’re always looking for album reviews. Please send along 100-word reviews of any new release you please. It must include the album name, artist name, label, release date, your name, and a photo of the album cover 150 pixels x 150 pixels.
PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE
Finally, our 2009 – 2010 Programming Committee will soon be calling you. We’re looking to discuss things about CFMU, ask questions, let you know what’s going on, and discuss options for Extra Volunteer Hours so they can help you meet your obligations. And if you’ve really read this newsletter, you’ll be reading this sentence right here, which states that the magic word is “jellyfish.” Email me that word so I know you’ve read this. It’ll be super-impressive if you do, and give us a clue how many of you are actually doing as we need you to do!
